Located on Todd Street , San Fernando , Skinner's Park is host to many cultural and sporting activities in the southland. Did you ever wonder how the park got its name? Well historical records reveal that in 1930 a gift of fifteen acres of land was given to the people of San Fernando for recreational purposes by the Usine Ste. Madeleine Sugar Factory. The said parcel of land was formerly referred to as " Usine Park" but was renamed Skinner's Park after Gilbert Chancery Skinner , the manager of Usine St.Madeliene who made the offer of the parcel of land to the then Borough Council of San Fernando. This 100+ year facility is to be upgraded soon to bring it in line with modern requirements. It remains to be seen however, if the name "SKINNER PARK" will be retained or renamed after upgrade works completed

Hello I live in a village in Norfolk where Gilbert's father Frederick was the Vicar for many years. Gilbert is commemorated inside the Church

I am seeking a photo of Mr. Gilbert Chancery Skinner for commemorating him in a historic remembrance on the walls of the Skinner Park in San Fernando and for his tenure at Usine Ste. Madelene sugar factory here in Trinidad... I will welcome any assistance with this and I will keep you up to date with its development
