The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa gratefully acknowledges the time, talent, and dedication of the late Yasmin Nafeesa Asgarali-Glassford (April 22, 1956 – February 22, 2020). Through her many photographs of TTAO events, Yasmin captured cherished moments, celebrated our community, and helped preserve its history for generations to come.
The photographs featured here are part of her valued contribution to the TTAO event held in Ottawa on Sunday, August 18, 2019. Her invaluable contribution and lasting legacy will always be remembered.

The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa (TTAO) held its annual Christmas party on Sunday, December 9, 2018. The children enjoyed refreshments, games, a punch board, and plenty of fun-filled musical-chair activities. The excitement continued when Santa made a surprise visit, bringing gifts for every child.
The children also had the opportunity to learn how to play the bongo drums, adding a lively musical touch to the celebration. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of the many TTAO volunteers, the party was a tremendous success. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the children left happy with memories—and gifts—to cherish.

A True Trinidad Christmas Celebration-november 4, 2018
On November 4, 2018, the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa hosted a lively evening of soca and parang, bringing the warmth and spirit of a Trinidadian Christmas to the community.
Traveling from Toronto, Ontario, the renowned Los Palaros parang group provided an unforgettable evening of traditional Venezuelan-rooted folk and Christmas music. A long-standing Trinidadian parang band based in the Toronto area, Los Palaros has been performing parang and soca parang at cultural festivals, community limes, and holiday events across Ontario since 1993.
The Nepean Philharmonics Steelband also provided live entertainment, adding the vibrant sound of steelpan to the festivities. The venue was packed, with guests dancing, enjoying delicious food, and celebrating together.
It was a joyful evening filled with music, culture, community, and the unmistakable spirit of a true Trinidad Christmas celebration.

Acknowledgement of Ashton Hughes as a recipient of the united way community builder award - sept. 14, 2018
The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa proudly acknowledges Ashton Hughes, a respected Ottawa community leader and the founder of the Nepean Panharmonics Steel Band.
For more than 40 years, Ashton has promoted steelpan music, celebrated Caribbean culture, and inspired generations of youth and local percussionists throughout the Ottawa region. Through his dedication, mentorship, and commitment to community development, he has made a lasting contribution to Ottawa’s cultural landscape.
His achievements have been recognized through the United Way Community Builder Award and his inclusion on the local Wall of Inspiration. The Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa celebrates Ashton Hughes for his outstanding leadership, service, and enduring impact on the community.

On August 19, 2018, the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa hosted its annual Trinbago Day celebration in Ottawa, Ontario. The event brought the community together for an afternoon of refreshments, music, and dancing, while also celebrating the achievements of two scholarship recipients pursuing post-secondary education. It was a joyful occasion highlighting culture, community, and the importance of supporting the next generation.
