PROJECTS UNDERTAKEN BY THE TTAO

2021 • December - Donation to an orphanage – La Fondation des Foyers Angele as part of the Earthquake Relief in Haiti. • Donation to the Ottawa Food Bank. 2020 • July - Raised funds to support a Parent Teacher Association project – to purchase of uniforms, books and other school supplies for 40 students at Mon Repos R.C. School- Trinidad. • July - TTAO – Nazru Deen Scholarship to a student at Vistabella Presbyterian School – Trinidad. • October - Donation to support the purchase of Tablets for SEA students at the Mason Hall Government School – Tobago. 2019 • January – Donation to Living Waters Foundation – for the Flood Relief Fund in Trinidad and Tobago. 2018 • Donation to Priyanka Dhanie (Compound Archer from Trinidad & Tobago). 2017 • Scholarship to student of St. Dominic’s Children’s Home • Donation to the purchase of improved water facilities at St. Dominic’s Children’s Home. 2016 • March – Donation to the Culinary Institute and the Mason Hall Village Performers – Tobago. 2014 • January – Walk for Memories – Walkathon to support Alzheimer’s Society of Ottawa Renfrew – raised just over $20,000. 2012 • May – Donation $1,000 Cdn to St. Dominic’s Children’s Home. 1999 • TTAO – C.L.R. James Scholarship to students at St.Mary’s Children’s Home and St. Dominic’s Children Home -Trinidad • Book launch featuring a book by Shamsu Deen -a Trinidad & Tobago genealogist. • Partnered with Carleton University in Ottawa to premiere a film “The Panman” produced by Kamalo Deen, a national of Trinidad and Tobago in the USA. • Volunteered to man phone lines for the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Telethon. 1998 • In partnership with Canadian University Services Overseas (CUSO) – sent computers to Upper Cumuto Government School -Trinidad. • Supported the Empowerment Foundation of Tobago – to sponsor after school training programs for children attending primary school, as well as children who for one reason or another no longer attended school . • Formation of the “Island Chorale” choir, which visited Long Term Care Facilities and other Seniors’ Residences, to bring Christmas cheer to shut-ins in Ottawa. 1997 • Donated to the Piparo Volcano Relief Benefit in Trinidad & Tobago. • Shipped books to South East Port-of-Spain Secondary School. • Donated funds to assist a joint project between Scouts Canada and the Trinidad and Tobago Scouts Association. Scouts Canada send representatives to Trinidad to build a Walk in Centre to help youth in Arima.
