Travel back to the 1990s with the TTAO as we revisit some of the association’s memorable activities. On Saturday, September 20, 2014, the Trinidad & Tobago Association of Ottawa hosted a vibrant gala dinner at Tudor Banquet Hall in celebration of Trinidad and Tobago’s 38th year as a republic. The TTAO welcomed Ottawa Chief of Police Charles Bordeleau, Trinidad and Tobago’s High Commissioner designate, and presidents of several Caribbean associations. Guests enjoyed live entertainment, including a steelpan jazz duo and a classical Indian dance performance. The celebration also featured tributes to cultural icons David Bostic, president of Club S.O.C.C.A., and Ashton Hughes, leader of the Nepean Panharmonic Steel Band. The evening concluded with the presentation of C.L.R. James scholarships to local students, honouring academic achievement and community spirit.

The Trinidad and Tobago community in Canada’s capital city, Ottawa, Ontario, came together at Lansdowne Park for a vibrant celebration of Trinidad and Tobago’s 55th Independence Anniversary and Canada’s 150th birthday. The memorable event featured delicious food, diverse musical performances, cultural entertainment, and a modelling show hosted by former Miss Universe, Wendy Fitzwilliam. It was a tremendous success, bringing people together in a joyful celebration of culture, community, and national pride.

Trinbago 55th & Canada's 150th celebrations 2017

In July 2017, members of the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa, along with friends and invited guests, gathered at Rideau Carleton Raceway for an unforgettable dinner and fundraiser. Guests enjoyed a delicious selection of cuisine, including an array of beloved Trinidadian dishes, while music, a silent auction, and exciting door prizes added to the festivities. It was a lively and enjoyable day filled with great food, fellowship, and fun for everyone.

On Sunday, December 10, 2017, the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Ottawa hosted its annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission. Guests enjoyed light refreshments, games, and a fun-filled fishing pond. The highlight of the afternoon was a special visit from Santa Claus, who brought a gift for every child. The room was filled with laughter and excitement, making the celebration a wonderful success. The children left happily—with smiles on their faces and perhaps a little sleepiness after an afternoon of festive fun.
